Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.(James 5:14-15)
An inward intuition, that inward witness on the inside of me, told me that the answer was in the Book - in the Bible. And that was the difference between life and death for me. Most folks would have given up and died at fifteen years of age.
But I got into the Book. I slept with it in my arms; I hugged it to my bosom; I hung on to it in the night. Praise God for the Book, for the Word of God.
I found out that God not only dealt with sickness in the Old Testament, but He also dealt with sickness in the New Testament, under the New Covenant.
Now I had read James 5:14 and 15 in the New Testament many times before. But one day it dawned on me that Paul asked the question, "Is there any sick among you?"
The fact that Paul asked that question infers that there shouldn't be any sick people within the Church. In other words, James was saying that healing belongs to the Church, to us.
Confession I love the Word of God, for in it are all the answers I need. In the Word of God, I find that health and healing are for the Church, which means health and healing are for me.
