“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love” (1 John 4:7-8).
One of the things the Spirit of God accomplishes in your life when you’re born again is to fill your heart with God’s love, such that it bursts out through your lips. There’re people who find it difficult to say, “I love you.” Some parents find it difficult to tell their children “I love you.” Some spouses even find it hard to say “I love you” to each other. Even in the church sometimes, if the pastor were to say, “Turn to your neighbour and say “I love you” some folks would be too embarrassed to say it!
It shouldn’t be so with you. Saying the words “I love you” is part of the love-language in the Kingdom of God. Therefore train yourself, not only to demonstrate love through your actions but also to speak the love language. The Holy Spirit is the author of love, and He lives in you, hence it ought to be easy for you to talk love. As long as you find it difficult to express your love for others, you haven’t fully let the Spirit have His way in your life.
The Bible tells us that God, because of His great love for you, sent Jesus to die for your sins (Romans 5:8). You’re a product of love. When you begin to think this way, you’ll see others through the eyes of love; you’ll see them the way God sees them, valuable and priceless. You’ll also learn to say, “I love you”; not out of weakness, but out of the understanding that love is the expression of divinity.
Make up your mind to speak the language of love always. Even if you were treated badly or spoken to in an uncomplimentary way, refuse to respond with harsh or bitter words, let your words be full of love.
Confession
The love of God has been deposited in my heart by the Holy Spirit, and I walk in love today; I talk love; I think love; I act love. My words are full of love and kindness, and they minster grace to all who I come in contact with today, in Jesus’ Name.
