“My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad” (Psalm 34:2)
God wants us to make our boast in Him always! That’s why the Psalmist declared, “In God we boast all the day long…” (Psalm 44:8). To make your boast in the Lord is to vocalize your faith in His ability and how that ability is functioning in you. It means to declare your consciousness of His greatness in you—to acknowledge and profess that you’re sufficient in His sufficiency.
This was what David did when He confronted Goliath as a young boy; he made his boast in the God of Israel. Though Goliath was so huge and another man carried his shield, David was unafraid! Instead, he made his boast in the Lord! He said, “This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands”. (1 Samuel 17:46-47).
What a boast! David told Goliath he’d cut off his head, yet he had no sword in his hand. What gave David such audacity was his faith in the ability of God! The apostle Paul understood this same truth and he said by the Spirit “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God” (2 Corinthians 3:5). David understood that God’s ability was working in him mightily. He knew that anyone who was in relationship with Jehovah couldn’t and shouldn’t be defeated in battle! I imagine how irritated Goliath must have felt as David boasted in the Lord! He must have felt like crushing the young stripling with his bare hands. Well, you know the rest of the story; David did exactly what He said He’d do to Goliath and the Philistines!
Learn to make your boast in the Lord! Vocalize your faith! Declare who He is, what He has done and who He has made you! You’re more than a conqueror; you’re a victor and a winner in life! Testify of what God has done for you, and what His Word says He can do through you. The carnal folks may think you’re “braggadocios”, but don’t keep quiet. As you boast in the Lord, you activate the anointing of the Spirit! God loves it when you make your boast in Him!
Confession
Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world! I’m indestructible and unconquerable because I have the life of God in me. I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. I function by the ability of God! I’m a champion and a victor in life; I win and reign everyday by the power of the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah.
