“Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith” (Romans 3:27).
In the same way that gravity is a law in the physical world, faith is a law in the realm of the spirit. A law is expected to be constant; it should work for anyone, anywhere under the right circumstances. For example, gravity, as a law functions all the time. That’s the reason you don’t suddenly find yourself floating while walking along the road. The law of gravity is what keeps you on the ground. In the same way, the law of faith can be counted on to work at all times.
When dealing with laws, there’s no ‘trial and error’; laws don’t forgive, they either work for you or work against you. If you were standing at the balcony of a high-rise for example, you won’t need to put one foot out to cautiously test if gravity is working outside—you just know it is. In the same way, you don’t “try” to use your faith, for if it is faith it ought to have worked already.
The Bible defines faith as the “evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). If something is an evidence, it means that it’s a proof of the existence of that thing. So, if for example, someone who’s been sick with cancer declares in faith “I’m healed in the Name of Jesus; the cancerous growth in my body is dead”; if what he has is really faith, it means the growth (in the spirit) is actually already dead even though he can still feel it or see it with his physical eyes.
When you understand that faith is a law, first, it will help you know if what you thought was faith was really faith. Secondly, it will give you the confidence to know that faith always works! That means you can stake your life on it—since it’s a law that works for everyone that applies it rightly.
Confession
I thank you Father, for granting me the understanding of the law of faith and how it works. I do not struggle to apply faith, for it is the New Testament principle by which I live as a believer. And as I study the Word today, my faith is strengthened and increased, producing more results in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
