“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen” (2 Peter 3:18).
I’ve often said that Grace means much more than “unmerited favour,” which is the definition many folks are acquainted with. From it’s Greek connotation which is “charis” it refers to that divine influence of God on a man’s spirit that reflects on the outside, producing favour, beauty, goodwill and loveliness. It is that unseen thing in your life that causes others to want to do you good, causing your life to move from one level of glory and success to a higher one. In a nutshell, grace is the power of promotion upon your life! When it’s working in you, no matter at what level you start you can only end up on top.
When Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery in Egypt, the Bible says, “his master (Potiphar) saw that the LORD was with him…and Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand” (Genesis 39:3-4). Wow! Potiphar made a slave-boy overseer of his whole household! That’s the power of promotion. In the course of time, Joseph was framed and sent to prison unjustly, yet while in prison that power was at work in his life. The Bible says “the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners that were in the prison…the keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him” (Genesis 39:22-23)
In a matter of time, Joseph, the hitherto Hebrew slave became the Prime Minister of the nation into which he was sold as a slave. That’s what grace will do for you. No wonder the Apostle Peter admonished that we grow in grace (2 Peter 3:18); Paul also reiterated that we take advantage of the grace that is in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 2:1). But before you can grow or take advantage of the grace of God, you have to first recognize that it’s already been made available to you.
Thus, everyday, consciously declare that the grace of God is working in you and you’re increasing in it. Meditate on God’s Word everyday and let your spirit radiate the glory in the Word. Before long, that glow in your spirit will begin to show up outwardly, and others will recognize the hand of God upon you, and necessarily do you good. Remember, the grace of God is already available to you, so grow in it; take as much of it as you can; and watch the power of promotion catapult you upward and forward as you make progress with giant strides!
Prayer
In the Name of the Lord Jesus, I take advantage of the grace of God upon my life! As a result of that grace doors of blessings and opportunities are opened to me today; I’m experiencing the upward and forward life, and my life is the testimony of God’s grace.
