Jesus Christ: The Revelation Of The Father

In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: (Colossians 1:14-15).

In revealing Himself to us, God sent Jesus to the world, as a man, to unveil the character and personality of the Godhead. In John 14:9, in response to Philip who asked, “Show us the Father,” Jesus said “…he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?” Also, in John 10:30, He said, “I and my Father are one.” Jesus Christ was the revelation of the Father; He came as the expression of the will and nature of the Father.

Hebrews 1:3 describes Him beautifully, as the express image of the Father. He came to express, show, unveil, manifest, articulate, and demonstrate the will and nature of God. To see Him, therefore, is to see the Father; to know Him is to know the Father.

The Bible tells us that the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Him bodily: “…For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell” (Colossians 1:19). This is the picture of the resurrected Christ; the One in whom you’ve believed, and who dwells in your heart by faith. He’s the ultimate representation and imprint of the Father; the effulgence of His glory! And as He is, so are you, in this world (1 John 4:17).

Prayer

Precious Father, I thank you for revealing yourself in the Person of Jesus, who is the Living Word, and the expression of your infinite grace, love, mercy and compassion. Thank you for unveiling your character and personality to me by the Spirit, through your Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
