“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
Love is the greatest power in the universe and it takes the Holy Spirit to put it in our hearts. The kind of love I’m talking about is not a mother’s love for her children. That’s human love and human love is fickle. God’s love is true and boundless, and that’s where the power is.
One time at the Healing School, I ministered to a little girl who was completely paralyzed due to cerebral palsy; she’d been unable to walk and talk for years. When her mother brought her in, I didn’t have to touch her; I just looked lovingly into her eyes and she was healed. Demons can’t stand the love of God. They check out immediately.
It reminds me of an old song we sing sometimes:
“Let the world see Heaven in your eyes,
Show them love, they can’t deny,
Let the world see Heaven in your eyes,
Heaven in your eyes!”
When people see the love of God demonstrated through you, it has a potent effect on their lives. The only way God was able to save mankind was when He demonstrated love by sending His Son Jesus to die for them. Hitherto, as seen in the Old Testament, He had introduced the Law of Moses, but the people couldn’t keep it.
If the love of God could transform a previously furious personality as Saul of Tarsus, into Paul the great Apostle to the Gentiles—one of the greatest apostles ever known, then that same love-power is potent enough to transform anybody—be it your aggressive in-law, your uncooperative brother or sister, your nagging boss, etc. Show them love by hearing their voices differently and viewing their actions and motives differently. You’ll be glad you did at the end of the day.
Prayer
Dear Father, I thank you for giving me a heart that loves at all times. I refuse to hate or be resentful because your love saturates my heart; and by your Spirit, I’m manifesting this love to everyone around me through my words and actions, in Jesus’ Name.
