“And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them” (Ezekiel 36:27)
Force refers to power, might, vigour, ability or strength; that which compels or obligates. Thus the force of righteousness means the power, ability, strength or vigour that compels or obliges you to do right. As the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, the ability to do right is intrinsic in your nature. This is a quality imparted to your spirit by God when you’re born again that propels you to say and do the right things always.
Notice that in the opening scripture, God didn’t say “I will put my spirit within you and then you will try to walk in my statutes.” He said “I will put my spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes.” In other words, the force of righteousness in you will cause you to do right! That force of righteousness will galvanize you on the right path in life, thus every step you take will be a step in the right direction because the force of righteousness is at work in you.
What a wonderful blessing. Now, you know that your steps in life will never falter or fail, because there’s a force in you—a natural propensity to do right. Keep feasting on God’s Word and get yourself more acquainted and skilled in the doctrine of righteousness. That way, you’re sure to have a wonderful and exciting experience of life.
Prayer
Dear Father, thank you for teaching me today about the force of righteousness. By reason of the power of righteousness that’s at work in me, I do things right the first time! I make the right decisions in every aspect of my life; in my business, academics, family, marriage and relationship with people, in Jesus’ Name.
