The Righteous Is Dead To Sin

“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”(Romans 6:1-2)

As one who is born again you no longer have a problem with sin. This is because according to the Bible the nature of sin has been replaced with the nature of righteousness. I’ve said many times that the reason some Christians struggle with sin is their lack of sufficient information from the Word of God about who they are in Christ. You need to understand what the Bible means when it says “you’re dead to sin!” It simply means the power of sin over you is completely destroyed.

That means sin, shall not have dominion over you (Romans 6:14), because “He that is dead is freed from sin” (Romans 6:7). I mean, no matter how much you flog a dead horse it won’t feel anything. That’s how impossible it is for a believer who understands the doctrine of righteousness and knows that he is the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus to make sin a habit.

1 Corinthians 15:56 lets us know that the strength of sin is the law, but then, the very thing that gave life to sin, which is the law has been abolished by Jesus: “Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:” (Ephesians 2:15-16). Understand this: sin has been rendered powerless! No wonder the Bible says it shall no longer have dominion over you. The Lord Jesus has given us victory over sin, death and the grave!

If you ever find yourself struggling with sin, instead of feeling condemned and sorry for yourself, just meditate on who you are in Christ! Get on your knees before God and ask Him to forgive you, and then begin to declare “I know who I am; I’m the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus! I have the seed of God in me. Sin cannot reign in my mortal body, for I am dead to it, but alive to God.”

Remember, the Word of God is the cure for sin. Keep declaring the Word that you’re the righteous and not a sinner, and before long, your faith will rise like a giant; then sin and sin-consciousness will have no dominion over you.

Confession

I’m the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; I’m dead to sin but alive unto God. My members are yielded to God as instruments of righteousness, therefore sin doesn’t reign in my body, for the nature of sin has been supplanted with God’s nature of righteousness.
