Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for sweetsmelling savour (Ephesians 5:1-2).
There’s a beautiful song I love and part of it goes thus:
Love is the flag flown high from the castle of my heart
For the king is at residence there
I lift it high in the sky, and let the whole world know
Let the whole world know, let the whole world know
I fly it high in the sky, and let the whole world know
That the king is at residence there….”
The song is saying in other words that the love you display is the proof that you’ve got Jesus. How true! Galatians 5:22 says love is the fruit of the recreated human spirit, and Romans 5:5 says “the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost.” It’s Christmas time, a perfect opportunity to manifest the love of Christ to everyone in your world. Let that flag of love fly high from the castle of your heart to those around you this Christmas. The Christian life is a life of love freely given us of God. The same gift of love is what you must give this season.
I often wonder when I notice that some Christians find it hard to walk in love. Some pray to God, asking Him to help them love even though the Bible says the love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost (Romans 5:5). It ought to be natural for every Christian to walk in love!
Love makes you give of yourself to others without thinking of what you’ll get in return. It makes you think of others and accept them just as they are without them feeling unwanted or neglected. Love is unselfish and doesn’t seek its own. It breaks the barriers of race, ethnicity and social strata. It makes it possible for us to see the beauty in others and appreciate who they are.
Take some time to appreciate those around you and do something definite to show someone the love of Jesus; let someone experience the love, care and touch of Jesus through you today!
Confession
I am full of love! I walk in love everyday and I refuse to stoop to the low level of hatred and malice, but I live in the high realms of love, where God lives. The love of God that is shed abroad in my heart is radiating through me today, and I’m manifesting the divine love of God to everyone in my world today, in Jesus’ Name.
