For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him (2 Corinthians 5:21).
There is a difference between righteousness and right living. Right living is the product of righteousness. No man can live right until he’s first of all righteous. God can only require a man to live right after that man has been made righteous. This is the reason God gave you righteousness as a gift. The Bible says they which receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign as kings in life (Romans 5:17 AMP).
When you received Christ into your heart, eternal life was imparted to your spirit and you became the righteousness of God. Righteousness was imparted to your human spirit at the new birth. That righteousness produces in you the ability to stand before God without a sense of guilt, inferiority or condemnation. It’s the divine nature of God that produces in you the ability to do right.
God credited righteousness to you the day you made Jesus Lord of your life: He gave it to you freely as a gift. It’s not something you worked for. The Bible says we’ve been justified, that means declared righteous freely by His grace (Romans 3:24). The moment you were born again, you received God’s own righteousness. Consequently, you became as righteous as God is righteous, since He gave you His own righteousness.
Being conscious that you’re the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus gives you boldness and confidence to pray and expect an answer. It gives you mastery over the devil and his accusations. It makes you a champion in life! If you haven’t made Jesus Lord of your life, it means you haven’t received God’s gift of righteousness. You can receive God’s wonderful gift of righteousness right now, by asking Jesus to be Lord of your life. Eternal life will be imparted to your spirit, and you too will become the righteousness of God in Christ.
Confession
Dear Father, I thank you today, for giving me your righteousness as a gift, and inspiring in me the consciousness that I’m as righteous as Jesus is righteous. I declare that today, I reign and rule as a king, as I boldly take advantage of my right standing with you, in Jesus’ Name.

Romans 5:18-19: “Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. [19] For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”
Isaiah 54:17b: “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.”
