And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. [John 17:22-23].
Did you know that God loves us as much as He loves Jesus? Well, He does! And you ought to live with this consciousness everyday of your life. The Lord Jesus wanted us to know this when He said, “that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.” Jesus is concerned that we know that God sent Him to do what He did on the cross for us. You’re absolutely unique. Of all that God made, nobody was ever like you and nobody will ever be like you.
The Bible says you’re bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:20). No one in his right mind would go into a shop to purchase a worthless item. It would be absurd to walk into the mall with money and say “please give me something worthless, or please give me nothing.” There’re folks who in their prayers would say, “We are nothing before thee, O Lord”; they think they’re being humble, but the truth is, they’re being ignorant. You were bought with a price—the precious blood of Jesus Christ, because God loves you that much!
The Bible says “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:” That means, if you were the only one on earth, Jesus would still have died for you. He wants the world to know that the Father loves you as much as He loved Him.
In the opening scripture, He said “that the world may know….” that means Jesus is concerned about your success; He wants everybody to know that God loves you as much as He loves Him. He wants people to see you and testify that indeed, the Father loves you lavishly. You’re as valuable to God as Jesus is, the Father loves you as much as He loves Jesus. Let this truth dominate your thinking today.
Prayer
Dear father, I thank you for your great and unfailing love for me. I’m so glad that you sent Jesus to die for me, and I am even more glad to be called your offspring today. Help me, I pray, to comprehend the length, breadth, and height of that love, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
