Invest In Your Heavenly Account

There are four ways to invest in your heavenly account: tithing, giving to the poor, and giving offerings to help preach the Gospel and to praise the Lord. For each of these ways, there are a set of rules in the Word of God. Tithing is not the same as using your money to preach the Gospel. Paying tithes is giving to God and it has privileges. Many Christians have heard about tithing but little do they know about its importance. The will of God for Israel was that the first tenth of their produce (or spoil) must be paid to Him. God said in Deuteronomy 26:1:” And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possesses it, and dwellest therein.” What does this have to do with Christians? In Colossians it is said that God delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of his dear son. We now live in the kingdom of God and we have entered into our inheritance in Jesus Christ and we possess it in His name. God has given us the authority and He shows us how to use our privileges in tithing so we can have dominion over the world of money.

Deuteronomy 26:2-3:” that thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land to the Lord that God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name there. And thou shalt go unto the priest that shall be in those days.” Who is this priest? In Hebrews 3:1 Jesus is our High Priest. In Hebrews 7:8 Jesus himself receives our tithes. Therefore, when we tithe, we approach God and say: “I declare this day to the Lord my God that I have entered the land which the Lord swore to me”. This is a part to be done when tithing, it is very important to confess to the High Priest.

Deuteronomy 26:4:” And the priest shall take the basket out of thine hand, and set it down before the altar of the Lord thy God”. We do not act according to this; we place our money hastily in an envelope without thinking it through instead of gifting it to Jesus whom in turn will set it down before the altar of the Lord God.

In Deuteronomy 26:5 they witness about the Work of God in their lives and how he saved them from slavery in Egypt. We were wrong and we were slaves to Satan, who was our God, but we were called in the name of Jesus and we heard the call. He redeemed us and delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of his dear son.

Below is an example of a Christian confession according to Deuteronomy 26 to be used and declared when tithing:

We declare today to the Lord our God that we have entered the inheritance He has swore to give us. We are in the land given to us by Jesus Christ, the kingdom of the only omnipotent God. We were wrong and we were slaves to Satan, who was our God, but we were called in the name of Jesus and we heard the call. He redeemed us and delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of his dear son.

Jesus, our God and our High Priest, we present you the first part of our revenue and we worship the Lord our God. We delight in every good thing you give to us and we heard the voice of the Lord our God and we work according to your commandments. Now behold from your holy habitation from heaven, and bless us, as you said in your word.

All of the above is a part of tithing. When you write down a check to tithe, hold it in your hand and pray over it because your money is a tool used to worship God. Deuteronomy 26:10 says that the High Priest will set it before the Lord God, and worship Him. Jesus worships the Lord God with your money.

The last part of this confession is very important; it is from Deuteronomy 26:14-15:” But I have hearkened to the voice the Lord my God, and have done according to all thou hast commanded me. Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey”. Instead of declaring this confession, you might think that if you keep tithing God will someday look down and bless you but you receive God’s blessing by having faith is His Word, it does not happen automatically, same thing for salvation.

In Malachi 3:10-11 God promised that if you tithe, he will open for you windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing so great until there is no more room to receive it. He said:” Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

My friend is a contractor but had not received any business contract for a long period of time, so I prayed according to Malachi 3:10-11 and believed in an overflowing blessing and then we scolded Satan saying:” Satan, this person pays his tithes and you have no right to bind his work. In the name of Jesus, we command you to turn away from him now!” After 3 months, my friend called me and said his work is overflowing. Praise the Lord! These are the rights of tithing according to the Word of God.

When you tithe, you build a foundation for financial success. You store your money with God so that you can be able to use it from afar. Start building your faith in this subject when you are doing well financially. Learn to act on God’s Word now. If you hold on to God’s covenant and use your rights – tithing rights, God will order Satan to turn away from you and to stop his power over you. If your financial situation is difficult now, do not delay, pay your tithe. Tithing belongs to God. Malachi 3:8-9:” Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation”. This means that the person who does not tithe, robs God and is under the curse for this reason. Start tithing to break this curse and after it you will gain money but first tithe and give it to God. Proverbs 3:9-10:” Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: so shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine”.

Deuteronomy 8:18:” But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth.” God gives you ninety percent and takes the tenth to help you. Ephesians 4:11-12:” And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” God uses tithing to talk to you, to prepare you and edify you.

Where are you supposed to tithe? God said:” Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house.” Do not give your tithes to a church that does not provide you with spiritual food. Do not give your tithes to a dead church but give it to a church that feeds people the life of God.

Giving to the poor

The second way to invest in your heavenly account is to give to the poor. Proverbs 19:17:” He that hath pity on the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.” When you give to the poor, expect a reward from God. Indeed, you lend to the Lord and he will reward you. If Jesus came to you and asked for a 100 bucks loan from you, do you think he will not reward you for that?

All the material wealth is here on earth, it will not fall from the sky. It already exists here and more than enough to everyone. Deuteronomy 33:19:” For they shall suck of the abundance of the seas, and of treasures hid in the sand.” But we do not know how to take it, that’s the problem. However, when we give to the poor, we are giving God the chance to bless us and at the same time we are helping a person in need.

You must know that Satan is behind poverty and dominates the poor, so they need the power of God in their lives. Therefore, before giving them anything, I talk to them about Jesus letting them know that He is the source of my riches and wants to be theirs too. Giving them food will not change them but the Bible will. If you give a poor man a fish, you help him for a day, but if you teach him how to fish, you will help him for the rest of his life.

Jesus taught about giving to the poor in Matthew 6:3:” But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth”. You will be happier when you give to the poor without letting them know that you are the one giving. Matthew 6:4:” And thy father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.” God himself will reward you!

Giving money to help preach the Gospel

Mark 10:29-30:” There is no man that hath left house, or bretheren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, but he shall receive an hundrefold now in this time. “Mark 16:15:” And he said unto them, go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” We must do this or send a person on our behalf. We can give money to a person preaching the Gospel in a foreign country or to a person teaching the Word of God in our country.

Offerings as praise to God

As Israel gave a sacrifice to praise God, we can also give as a mean to praise Him. Psalm 22:3:” But thou art Holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” God maintains our right and cause when we praise Him (Psalm 9:1-4). We use Psalm 118 when praising the Lord. Look at this verse: O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth forever. Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth forever. Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth forever. Let them now that fear the Lord say, that his mercy endureth forever. I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.” When I read this verse, I wanted to shout! The Word of God says if God is on our side the enemy cannot succeed (Romans 8:31).

Psalm 118 6:29:” The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore, shall I see my desire upon them that hate meIt is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes. All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them. They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns (thorns here means struggle): for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me.The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly. The right hand of the LORD is exalted): the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly (the right hand of the Lord here is Jesus. You praise Jesus when you confess this). I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD. The LORD hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD: This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter. I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation. The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the LORD’S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity (In Deuteronomy 26 it is also mentioned to say to the Lord to “send prosperity”). Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD. God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar. Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.”

When you praise the Lord like this, things happen in your money. Praise is a powerful tool for releasing the power of the Lord. Praise combined with offerings is compelling at the same time!

Praise raised David from a shepherd to become the King of Israel. Read about the millions of dollars that David gave to build the temple. And he was successful.

At a certain time before, my income was low. I had earned 30 dollars and I had to pay 3 bucks to the lord, but the Lord said to me: “If you believe my Word about tithes and that Jesus will take your money and give me praise, give me a tenth of what you need.” Actually, I gave all 30 dollars. After that I earned more money than I had before. Glory to God!
