For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead (2 Corinthians 5:14).
It was God’s intense love for us that made Him send His son, Jesus into the world, to die for us and bring us into a relationship with Him. When you appreciate the great love God showed towards you in sending Jesus to die in your place you can’t but share your testimony with someone else, and that’s where the preaching of the gospel begins. When your heart is full of God’s love, you’ll see the unsaved with the same eyes of compassion that made God send Jesus to die for them, and as a result, you’ll reach out to them with the gospel.
Every Christian who understands God’s love knows that soul-winning is the Father’s number one job. He wants it to be your major preoccupation in life as well—reaching out to the lost with the gospel. Remember that it wasn’t because you were perfect and sinless that God saved you; He loved you while you were in your worst state and sent His Son to die for you. You may not have been a killer or a robber, but as long as you were unsaved, you had a one-way ticket to hell until Jesus intervened: “…at that time, ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:”(Ephesians 2:12).
But thanks be unto God! The Bible says “God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ” (Ephesians 2:4-5). In that state of hopelessness and helplessness, God intervened; He brought you out of sin and darkness and translated you into the Kingdom of His dear Son.
This is why your heart should beat with the Father’s love as you go out today. Tell yourself, “If God loved me so much as to send Jesus to die for me even while I was still a sinner, then I’ve got to tell someone about His wondrous love.” Let God’s love inspire you today to be a fervent soul-winner.
Dear Father, I thank you for your great love for me which motivated you to send Jesus to die for me and bring me out of sin and darkness into your glorious Kingdom of light, life and peace! I’m motivated and compelled by your love today, to take the gospel to the unsaved, and bring them into your Kingdom of love, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
