But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, (Jude 1:20)
From time to time in our walk of faith, we experience faith at different levels. Sometimes we experience very high faith and do big things, and some other times, our faith seems to go a little lower than usual. Now, the Bible tells us to build up ourselves on our most holy faith—our highest faith. The term in the scripture “…building up…” is Greek: Epoikodomeo—meaning to build up the superstructure. After constructing a foundation, which is usually hidden, the building that comes above it is known as the superstructure. Thus, a superstructure is the part of a building above the foundation.
To build yourself on your most holy faith therefore means to build on something that already exists—to build on that high level of faith that you’ve attained so your faith won’t vacillate or go lower next time. When you learn to function from that high level of faith, it will become the bench mark so that next time, that high level becomes your lowest faith.
The way to build up yourself on your most holy faith is by praying in the Holy Ghost. Remember, faith came to you when you heard God’s Word. By hearing more of God’s Word, you increase your faith, but you won’t stabilize at that topmost level of faith unless you pray in the Holy Ghost. The more you pray in the Holy Ghost the more seasoned you are at your topmost level of faith. Why not start praying in the Holy Ghost right now?
Prayer
Thank you, Father for calling me into an exciting life of faith. I have no dull moment, for every day, I’m building up myself in my most holy faith by the Spirit of the Lord. I keep going higher and higher in the realms of faith, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
