Prosperity In A Time Of Dryness

“And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not” (Isaiah 58:11).

We’re living in a time many have described as a period of dryness and darkness. They call it a period of dryness because of the economic problems in the world. They no longer make money like they used to and things have generally become difficult for them. They walk in darkness because they find it difficult to ascertain what the future holds for them. Every day, they live in fear of today’s problems and the uncertainties of the future.

But that’s not your lot as a child of God. The Bible says concerning you in Jeremiah 17:8, “For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” For us whose faith and trust is in the Lord, people will have to tell us about the dryness and heat they’re experiencing. That’s because it’s not our lot; we don’t know when heat comes.

The Bible says in Job 22:24, “Thou shalt lay up gold as dust.” “Dust” here doesn’t only refer to the magnitude of your financial blessing, but also to the immutability of your prosperity. Just as it is very difficult to keep dust away, so it is difficult to keep riches from coming your way. And interestingly, in natural weather conditions, it’s in time of dryness that you have the most dust. So when God tells you you’ll lay up gold as dust, He’s letting you know that even in times of economic hardship, your prosperity will continue to increase, just as dust increase in time of dryness. Hallelujah.

Confession

I’m like a tree planted by the waters, that spreads out her roots by the river. I don’t know when heat comes. Instead, my leaf is always green; I’m not careful in the time of drought, neither do I cease from yielding fruit. I reap a multiplied harvest in a time of famine. Hallelujah!

Psalm 37:18-19 The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

Romans 8:35-37 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
