Understanding Prosperity

We often hear people criticizing prosperity, and this is because the correct definition of prosperity has not yet reached them. One of the meanings of the word “salvation” in the Greek is the word “prosperity” which some people do not understand and suggest to themselves definitions and meanings of the word prosperity of their own, in order to go along with their real life, but what does God’s Word says about this word sounds strange for those who have heard teachings learning that a believer must live in poverty.

  • Definition of prosperity:

Prosperity is broader than material and money, it is a complete settlement of the needs, in other words you do not lack anything, and we mean from this that you do not lack anything in your entire life concerning your health, in your material needs, in the peace in which you live, that is, peace of mind, and it also includes the area of success i.e. Everything you reach for will succeed. And this is what was said in Psalm 23: 1: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” This is in contrast to the definition of poverty.

Also what was stated in Revelation 3: 17-18 -: “(17) Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: (18) I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.”

Although he has money, but he is poor in the eyes of God and this broadens our concept and we know that what is in God’s view towards prosperity and its meaning is to meet the needs in everything material, health, psychological and holistic.

Definition of poverty:

It is the need for something, meaning that if a person has money but does not have health, then he is in need of something, thus defining his need is “poverty.” And this is what was stated in Rev 3:17: “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; …”

Types of prosperity:

Spiritual prosperity, Soul prosperity, Physical prosperity.

1 Thessalonians 5: (23)” And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The word “preserved”, means complete in these three areas (spirit, soul, and body), and through the three types of prosperity we discover that prosperity is a complete and abundant payment for all soul, spiritual and physical needs.

Spiritual prosperity

It is the second birth and to be filled of the Holy Spirit.

Soul prosperity

Is to control your thoughts, not to that your thoughts control you.

2 Timothy 1: (7) “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

The word “insight” (sound mind) in the Greek means controlling your thoughts, not your thoughts control you, but you are controlling them, and soul prosperity also includes emotional stability, and this is when you realize that you are righteous, you will behave with the truth that you  only contain joy and there is no sadness in you.

Material prosperity:

It is the abundant payment according to God’s glorious riches for all your material and physical needs.

Physical prosperity in divine healing and divine health, and material prosperity is in the money and this is not a new thing, but since God created Adam and said to him: From all the trees of Heaven eat and this indicates that God did not make Adam in want to anything, God did not create man to be tortured or, or to be poor (according to poverty as we mentioned its meaning).

Notice with me, the first five books of the Bible speak about blessings and curses, and the Word makes it clear that Jesus carried all curses on the cross, meaning that Jesus redeemed us from disease, poverty, and spiritual death. This is the totality of the curses that afflicted the people in the Old Testament.

The Lord Jesus taught about money as he taught about healing and anything else, but the Lord Jesus in his teaching gave a focus on warning about the love of money and not that money in itself is evil, but the love of money i.e. greed, and it is the greed that is wrong and not owning  money, in other words, money and how to multiply it and increase it in any mean shall not be the object of your total concern, and this is what the Lord Jesus warned of when he taught about money.

It is very possible that the poor as the rich can fall into the sin of the greed, and the solution is not to take money away from him, but to teach him the Word so that he does not become greedy.

Greed is dependence, clinging to cash as the solution you have on earth, and turning away from God. The Bible warned him in 1 John 2: (16) “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

And in Deuteronomy 8: (18)  “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”

Dear Researcher: Realize and take care of your interest in what Jesus did with you, and this will lead you to complete prosperity in all aspects of your life. The Bible testifies to you that you are obedient, that you are healed, that you do not face failure in all of your life, that you are rich, and that all you have to do is study and conduct the Word.

2 Corinthians 8: (9) “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” We find Paul speaking of money in the chapters before and after it (8 and 9).

The Lord Jesus did not lack anything in the period he lived before the cross, but we find that his only lack was in the period of completing his salvation for us when he was in need of only one thing, which is his relationship with the Father when he separated from him and left him where he said: My God, my God, why did you leave me, and this was done in order for you to live in the fullness of blessing, and this is God’s will for you, me, and everyone who believes.

Prayer:

My Heavenly Father, I thank you because you sent your son and put disease, poverty, and spiritual death upon him, I am paid in full for everything I need. Now I have a divine health,

And I will not face failure throughout the days of my life, but rather the goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, I am not a victim in this life but rather I am more than a conqueror in this life, and I refuse to live in less than what your son Jesus accomplished , my inheritance  in the saints here on earth and I will discover through your word all that you have given me, and I will live it and glorify you always in the name of Jesus.
